A native of the Philippines, Nice Rodriguez, studied painting at the University of the Philippines and trained as a CPA before she became a journalist and photojournalist. She wrote for a number of business newspapers and lifestyle magazines prior to emigrating to Canada in 1988. In Canada, she worked as a production artist with a Toronto weekly newspaper.
