Fines are penalties for keeping library materials past their agreed upon return date, as indicated in the chart below. Failure to return items will result in you being charged a replacement cost and may lead to loss of borrowing privileges. At the end of the semester, unresolved fines may result in withholding of marks, though course registration remains unaffected.

Courtesy & Overdue Notices
Receive courtesy reminders and overdue notices via your TMU email, including notifications 2 days before items are due and when they are 1 day late. Ensure timely returns or renewals to avoid fines.
Checking Your Fines
Log into My Library Account to review fines. Details include titles, fine types, charges, and amounts.
Fine Calculations
Daily fines apply for each overdue day, excluding weekends and library closures. If an item is more than 30 days overdue, it will be assumed to be lost and you will be charged the replacement cost of the item in addition to the fine.
Payment Methods
Pay fines in person or by phone at 416-979-2149 using VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or OneCard. Personal checks are not accepted. Please email access@torontomu.ca for any further inquiries.
Fines Appeal
If you would like to dispute a fine, please complete our Fines Appeal Form. Once we have reviewed your dispute, you will be contacted by email.
