Note: All campus buildings, including the Library require OneCard access. External and Direct Borrowers may access the Library Building via the intercom at ground level. Please bring a government ID, OneCard or other university ID for identification.
Affiliated Borrowers
- Application Forms are available at the Circulation Desk or can be downloaded (Affiliated/External Borrower Library Card Application form).
- Eligibility: Individuals who volunteer or work part time at TMU.
- Approval: Applications require signed approval by the Dean of the Faculty and payment of the $75 external borrower fee.
- Borrowing Limits: Up to10 books at one time. Reserve items are excluded.
- Exclusions: No off-campus access to the library’s electronic resources. Interlibrary loans are not available.
External Borrowers
- Application: Forms are available at the Circulation Desk or can be downloaded (Affiliated/External Borrower Library Card Application form).
- Eligibility: Residents of Toronto GTA.
- Fee: $75, non-refundable, valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
- Borrowing Limits: Up to 10 books at a time. Periodicals, reference, reserve items, and audio-visual materials are excluded.
- Exclusions: No access to TMU computers, wifi, printing services, or electronic resources. Interlibrary loans are not available.
Direct Borrowers
- Students, Faculty and Staff from all Canadian universities (with the exception of University of Toronto undergraduate students) may apply for a Direct Borrower Card from the TMU circulation desk
- Check the Canadian University Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement to be sure that you are eligible and have the appropriate identification from your home university and one piece of Government-issued photo I/D with address.
- May borrow 10 items at one time with a loan period for most items of 3 weeks. No periodical or reserve items may be borrowed.
- Interlibrary loans are not available.
- For wifi and access to your home institution’s eresources, please check the list of participating institutions and your own institution’s Eduroam information page for configuration and login information.
Life Institute Members
- Application: Present a current LIFE membership card and one piece of photo ID at the Circulation Desk.
- Borrowing Limits: Up to 10 books. Reserve, and audio-visual materials are excluded. Loan periods vary but generally are 14 days and can be removed.
- Access: Free/Open Access Databases. No access to subscription electronic resources, interlibrary loans, Scan and Deliver service, TMU computers, wifi, or printing services.
