Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Libraries system is committed to advancing equity,
diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility (EDIA) across various aspects of our libraries, including
resources, services, programming, teaching and learning, organizational culture, Scholarly,
Research and Creative (SRC) activities, and advocacy. While we are committed to this work, we
also acknowledge that we have much to learn, and we commit to deepening our understanding
and improving our culture and our practices.
We are committed to the EDIA goals in TMU Library’s Strategic Plan, and to aligning with the
EDIA strategies expressed in TMU’s Strategic Vision, 2020-2030. We are also committed to
furthering EDIA in the profession by contributing to EDIA efforts through professional bodies
such as CARL, CFLA, OLA, etc., that collectively advocate for increased action to address
historical inequities in library spaces and practices, build and maintain diverse and inclusive
communities and collections, and eliminate barriers to services and scholarship.
The Library commits to actively participating in this complex and ongoing work that advances
equity, diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility in various ways, with the ultimate goal of effecting
profound and enduring change.
