Unpaid Placements & Volunteering Policy

As an academic library, the Toronto Metropolitan University Library supports student education and encourages the development of new staff in the library and archives field. The Library will support unpaid placements on the following conditions:

  • The placement is part of a recognized education program (e.g., practicum placements for MIS, iSchool, and/or technician program students)
  • The placement is for a defined, short period of time
  • The placement is around a defined project rather than ongoing librarian or staff work
  • A Toronto Metropolitan University librarian has agreed to develop a suitable project and supervise the student.

Outside of recognized educational placements, Toronto Metropolitan University Library does not normally accept volunteers.
