GMDC staff offer research and instructional support to faculty members who wish to integrate our resources into course/lab assignments, studios and research projects.

Our Services

– Instructional support related to Geospatial Data Search, Access and Discovery

– Hands-on GIS software support with ArcGIS 10.2 Desktop – custom workshops tailored to specific assignments or course work

– In person consultation related to GIS & Geospatial Data

Typically, we offer instruction sessions via class visits or host custom GIS workshops in the GMDC – GIS & and Data Lab.

ESRI Software – Campus Site License

The Toronto Metropolitan University Library & Archives (RULA) along with the Departments of Geography, Civil Engineering and Urban and Regional Planning share the cost and administer the ESRI Software – Campus Site License for access to the ArcGIS Suite of software. Request a copy of ArcGIS Desktop – Student Edition software for academic use (teaching, research, educational purposes). Commercial use of the software is prohibited.

GIS Courses – ESRI Virtual Campus

ESRI Virtual Campus courses consist of tutorials and background readings related to various aspects of ESRI software products, namely ArcGIS Desktop software. Members of the TMU Community (faculty, students & staff) can access free online GIS courses for the purpose of academic, teaching and non-commercial research. Once the registration procedure is completed, courses are available for one-year after the activation date.
