Shapr3Dis a popular 3D design tool used in several DME workshops. The following instructions guide you through how to secure a free license, but know that current TMU students and staff can access a number of other design tools, including:
- TinkerCAD (Beginner; web-based)
- Fusion 360 (Intermediate-Advanced; Mac, Windows)
- Solid Works (Intermediate-Advanced; access via TMU Virtual Apps)
- OnShape (Intermediate-Advanced, iOS/Android + web-based)
TMU staff, students and faculty members can request free Education Access to Shapr3D. Please note: this is a non-TMU resource and you are encouraged to carefully review all license agreements and privacy policy.
How to Sign Up for a Free Shapr3D License
- Go to Shapr3D’s sign up page.
- Select “Request EDU License”
- Type your TMU Email address, then select “Sign Up”
- Create an account by typing in your email address again, a password, and your name.
- Click on “I have read, understood and agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy”
- You can choose “Download Shapr3D” or you can download the app later.
- After you finish, you will be directed to your dashboard.
- Go to Shapr3D’s Education page once again.
- Select “Request EDU License”
- You’ll be directed to a page that shows the following:
“This Email is not linked to an EDU License, would you like to continue. “ - Press “Continue Anyway”
- Fill out the information boxes and upload your TMU ID pictures (front & back) for evaluation*
- Submit your request and wait 3 business days.
- You’ll be sent an email titled: “Your Shapr3D EDU license is approved!”
- Congratulations! Now you have free access to Shapr3D. You can download Shapr3D and start using it or log in with your credentials to start creating.
*Tip: If your pictures are sized bigger than the limit of 1MB, you can save smaller version from your device.
