2013 Student Employee of the Year

Congratulations to Brittany Ryan, the Library’s 2013 Student Employee of the Year!  The below picture shows Brittany receiving the award from Chief Librarian, Madeleine Lefebvre.  Brittany has been employed at the Library as a Night Time Student Assistant since September 2011. She is the seventh recipient of this award, which distinguishes student employees who have excelled and made a positive impact during their employment at the Toronto Metropolitan University Library & Archives. Congratulations, Brittany!

Recognition of Graduating Student Library Assistants – Class of 2013

Student Recognition 2013The Library has continued with its program to recognize the contributions of graduating student library assistants who worked at the Library while pursuing their degrees. All student assistants from the Class of 2013 were invited to recommend one media item  be added to the Library collection, with a mention of the contributors in the catalogue, as well as in each of the chosen items themselves.

Library wins CLA Award for Innovative Technology

The Canadian Library Association (CLA) has awarded Ryerson Library with the 2013 CLA/OCLC Award for Innovation Technology for the RULA Book Finder application. The award is given in recognition of the ground breaking and innovative use of technology to provide exceptional library service to members of the community.  The Book Finder application helps Ryerson students, faculty and staff more easily find library materials in the stacks while searching the Library catalogue. Earth Hour

The university will be participating in the annual Earth Hour activities this year. It will happen between 8:30pm and 9:30pm on Saturday, March 23, 2013.

Campus Facilities & Sustainability Department will turn off all non-essential lighting in and around our buildings for one hour, and turn them back on again. This should not effect any classrooms.

Joe MacInnis Lectures on Deep Leadership

Physician-scientist, author,Deep Leadership poster deep-sea explorer and Ryerson Library’s first distinguished visiting professor, Joe MacInnis, presents ‘Deep Leadership: James Cameron’s seven-mile dive into the Mariana Trench’ on Wednesday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. in TRS-1-067.  In this visual presentation, Dr. MacInnis chronicles the forces of nature, technical breakdowns and severe stresses that plagued this risky mission – as well as the leadership principles that led to its success.
