Food and Drink
We want the Bikram S. Dhillon and Family Medical Library to be a clean, comfortable, and inclusive space for everyone.
What’s Welcome:
- Covered beverages (e.g., water bottles, travel mugs)
- Dry, non-disruptive snacks (e.g., granola bars, cold sandwiches)
To help keep shared spaces clean and scent-neutral, we ask that hot meals and aromatic foods be enjoyed in nearby lounge areas outside the Medical Library.
Please Also:
- Clean up after yourself and use the appropriate waste bins
- Be mindful of scent sensitivities and noise levels
- Let staff know if spills happen, we’re happy to help
We encourage learners to be environmentally friendly by using reusable mugs for coffee or screw-top bottles for water to help reduce waste.
We recognize that food and drink may be necessary for medical, cultural, or religious reasons. If you need accommodations, please speak with library staff, we’re here to support respectful, inclusive use of the space.
Thank you for helping us maintain a clean and welcoming study environment for everyone.
Quiet Study
The Bikram S. Dhillon and Family Medical Library is undergoing a phased opening. Phase one of the library opened in September 2025 and phase two the full opening of the library will open in August 2026. From September 2025 to August 2026, people in the library might hear construction noise and we have earplugs available at the front desk to hand out.
When construction is not happening, the library is intended as a place of quiet study. Quiet conversations are allowed as long as they are not disruptive. Students that need a silent environment are encouraged to use the Active Learning Lab as a quiet study space when not booked for programming.
