Below are three excellent resources for correctly citing paper maps in academic work.<\/p>\n<p>1. University of North Texas \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/guides.library.unt.edu\/citations-style-guides\/maps\">Citations &amp; Style Guide<\/a><br \/>\nOffers detailed examples for a wide variety of map formats\u2014including single-sheet maps, atlases, facsimiles, topographic series, and more formatted according to Chicago-style conventions.<\/p>\n<p>2. University of Wisconsin\u2013Madison \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/geography.wisc.edu\/maplibrary\/guide-to-citing-geospatial-data-maps-or-atlases\/\">Guide to Citing Geospatial Data, Maps, or Atlases<\/a><br \/>\nProvides structured guidance on citing maps, geospatial data, and atlases, with explicit templates and examples for single sheet maps, map series, facsimiles, book or journal embedded maps, and GIS produced maps.<\/p>\n<p>3. Boise State University \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/guides.boisestate.edu\/citingsources\/maps\">Maps Citations<\/a><br \/>\nA user friendly guide offering APA and MLA style formats for citing sheet maps with author, year, title, edition, scale, and publisher information.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1391\" data-end=\"1406\">Licensing<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1407\" data-end=\"2160\">Most datasets in the GMDC inventory and Scholars GeoPortal are covered by TMU\u2019s academic site licences, allowing teaching, research, and publication as long as you credit the source and do not redistribute the raw files.
