As a TMU instructor, you need to learn about the ways to deliver your course readings in a copyright compliant way. \u00a0This session will discuss how you can use the Library’s Course Reading service when you use copyright-protected works and how to apply the Toronto Metropolitan University Fair Dealing Guideline.<\/a><\/div>\n

Canadian Copyright Essentials for Graduate Students<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Canada\u2019s\u00a0Copyright Act<\/em>\u00a0protects both creators and users of copyrighted materials. As a graduate student you are both a creator and a user of copyrighted material. Issues that will be discussed will be who owns the intellectual property of work you do as a graduate student, \u00a0how to comply with and check copyright requirements for your thesis submission, and what you should know about copyright as a teaching assistant. Using practical examples, this workshop will provide a brief history of copyright in Canada, a summary of recent changes, as well as guidance for the use of copyright materials in your research and teaching.\u00a0 Learn what you need to know about copyright, fair dealing and Canada\u2019s changing copyright environment.<\/p>\n
