Akhtar Naraghi, a native of Iran, earned both an M.A. and Ph.D. from McGill University. Her doctoral dissertation in English literature, completed in 1992, is entitled:\u00a0 The Images of Women in Western and Eastern Epic Literature: An Analysis in Three Major Epics, The Shahnameh, The Iliad and The Odyssey<\/em>. She taught Persian literature at McGill. Naraghi died in 2015. According to her obituary in the Montreal Gazette<\/em>, she “was an impassioned believer in, and contributor to, women’s rights and social justice, and a writer of novels and verse who treasured her readership.”<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
