He has also published two novels. Rajan was born in India in 1920 and studied both econonics and English at Trinity College, Cambridge. He earned a Ph.D. in English from Cambridge in 1945. He returned to India and joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1948. He taught briefly at the University of Delhi in the early 1960s before moving to Canada in 1965.
