He earned a Ph.D. in Postcolonial Literature from the University of Calgary in 1999. His thesis is entitled: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collectionscanada.gc.ca\/obj\/s4\/f2\/dsk1\/tape9\/PQDD_0020\/NQ47902.pdf\"><span class=\"bold\">Brown Gazing: The Pedagogy and Practice of South Asian Writing in Canada<\/span><\/a>. Mathur&#8217;s career in academia included positions at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, the Okanagan Campus of the University of British Columbia, and Thompson Rivers University. Currently he is Dean of Graduate Studies and the interim (until June 30, 2021) Vice- President, Research and Innovation at OCAD U in Toronto.
